#3136 Springfield 1884 Trapdoor Cadet rifle (Type II) w/correct bayo!

Description

#3136 Springfield 1884 Trapdoor Cadet rifle (Type II), serial range 555XXX w/dim 1888 cartouche and all correct 1884 features including the Buffington windage adjustable rear barrel sight. Fine bore, 90%+ coverage of original barrel blue beginning to plum slightly and thinning to about a 60%+ density. Breechblock casecolor is fading to mostly gray swirls but having some color inside the breechblock, VG wood has minor bumps and light slivers but is basically in character with the o/a piece; the worst sliver being the one pictured at the buttplate. Bayonet is the correct proportionately slightly shorter Cadet length, marked with the US at the throat, and has about 95% fine original blue. The only thing scarcer than an original Cadet bayonet is the Cadet length scabbard (...which is unfortunately missing here). These Cadet trapdoor rifles are VERY unappreciated in the collecting field, and have a very definite place in the venerable Trapdoor Springfield line ...and every SERIOUS collection of Springfields should include the various Cadet Models. About Fine-Fine+ $1145 (Please read sellers rules below; good luck ..and thanks for looking!!)

Price: $1,145.00
