Description
#4937 Winchester 1873 OBFMCB, 24”x32WCF, 261XXX serial range(1888) and having a very good action. The bore is typically leaded up, as these smaller calibered ‘73s did not have a cleaning rod trap. The rods did not fit the bore of a 32/20 or .22RF, so the rod sets were not supplied for the small calibers. This bore DOES look like it will clean MUCH better with some “elbow grease” or a lead remover kit. The barrel has some overall light to moderate pitting (see photos) on the exterior, although the markings are typically in good order. As to the condition of the wood, it is basically decent wood, although the forearm has a long crack that has been filled and repaired (even if somewhat crudely done and could be made much better.) For the modern-day shootist who would like a nice gun for his “significant other”, this smaller caliber Winchester would make a fine start-up piece. About VG as described. $1175
