#4269 Winchester 1873 OBFMCB 20”x44WCF, 218XXX

Description

#4269 Winchester 1873 OBFMCB 20”x44WCF, 218XXX. Bore is pretty rough but does not look to have any major craters, just rust and heavy lead and crud build-up; rifling can be seen …and while many times these rough bores do shoot well, I do NOT recommend this as a shooter; it should be relined to be accurate. Now here is the caveat! This is NOT a “factory short rifle”, this is a longer barrel that was cut down to a saddle scabbard sized rifle and just happens to be a correct 20” length. The magazine retaining band looks correctly placed, but the front sight is a squeak too close to the muzzle …plus, this has the standard forearm instead of the shorter fore stock fitted to a correct short rifle. Smooth dark grey patina metal with some minor crustiness on the left sideplate and frame. Buttstock has a large crack on the left side of the upper tang and running back into the comb area. It does not appear to be affecting the strength and isn’t loose. Good markings and address, average amount of wood dings and slivers to both front corners of the forearm. High buckhorn rear sight is missing the serrated elevator and is what looks to be an after-market replaced sight. About VG as described. $1195
