#3857 Starr 1858 Double Action revolver, 6”x45CF (45COLT, I think)

Description

#3857 Starr 1858 Double Action revolver, 6”x45CF (45COLT, I think), with fine bore and fine tight action although needs some adjustment to operate correctly. I think it is missing the secondary trigger fly at the rear of the triggerbow, as it does not want to fire in the D/A mode. This has been converted in the post-Civil War years and then was most likely sold on the civilian market, and being as it was no longer a “muzzle-stuffer”, the percussion loading lever has been removed. In my opinion, this gun should have either the loading lever replaced, or at least have a tapered “filler” under the barrel similar to an 1875 Remington, as it looks terribly ungainly as it is. The exterior is basically just a thin plum-brown metal with good markings and what looks to me to be German proof marks. The grips are about Fine. A very decent post Civil War – Western handgun and one that would certainly make an interesting and different sidearm in a shooters society or re-inactor group There are a lot of photos to this old cannon, so if they all do not load up, be sure to e-mail me and I’ll forward them along to you. About VG as described. $995

Price: $995.00
