#SE230 Brooklyn Firearms 32 Caliber
Description
#SE230 Brooklyn Firearms Company Slocum front loading pocket revolver. This is a 32 caliber rim fire five shot revolver with a very unique design for loading. Individual chambers in the front of the sliding tubes within cut out on the cylinder allow for the loading of the 32 long or short cartridge. As the tube is slid back into place, it locks the round in place. These chambers slide forward one at a time over a fixed rod on the right side to expose load and eject as needed. The design of this gun was to circumvent the 1855 patent that was held by Rollin White and controlled by Smith & Wesson regarding bored through cylinders for use with metallic cartridges. The period of manufacturer was form around 1863 to 1864 of which a total quantity of over 10,000 were produced. The condition of this gun is fair to good. It is intact and functional. However the original blue finish on the 3 inch round barrel is worn and shows evidence of pitting. The cylinder and the tubes retains more bluing but show wear. The brass frame was originally silver plated, and only slight traces of original finish remains. The scroll work on the frame is factory standard. The grips are varnish rosewood and are in very good condition. Serial 912X
