Large, Early Stamped Holster
Description
Item Number L100275. This big, old well-made holster is a real mystery to me. It is very finely made in the fashion of the early slim-jims, with the rounded basket and fine stitching along the main body. Top edge of the body has an S-shaped contour, and original toe-plug is present and solid. Condition of the holster is solid and the surface is reasonably smooth with some light crazing near the top. The simple, narrow belt loop on back is attached with three original rivets, but has worn through at the top. The mouth of the holster measures 5 inches wide. Along the front edge, the body is 10 and ½ inches long. In my opinion, this holster dates from the early cartridge period or may even be for a large percussion gun. I have included a photo showing an 1860 Army in the holster, giving an idea of how big it is, much too big for the ’60 Army. I have no idea what fits it, but somewhere out there, there is a fine old gun that needs this holster. Email me with any questions, and don’t forget to take a look at my other items for sale.
