#C190 This Official First Day of Issue Presentation Set includes five Official Government First Day Covers containing the first national currency of the Solomon Islands. The covers, which bear new stamps honoring this currency, were postmarked in the Solomon Islands with a special first day of issue cancellation dated October 24, 1977, the day the Solomon Islands attained independence. The stamps bear the Royal Cypher of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and carry the inscription 'First Currency Issue'. The stamps affixed to the covers containing the banknotes depict each of the three banknotes included in this first national currency issue. The stamp on the cover containing the six coin Proof Set depicts the Solomon Islands' first national coinage, which bears finely detailed images identified with the culture and distinctive character of the islands. The cover containing the sterling silver 5 dollar coin bears a stamp depicting shell money, a type of currency once used on the islands. The covers are protected by plastics sleeves and are presented in an attractive vinyl wallet. Includes 5 plastic pages, 1 Page One each one dollar, the 20 cent the 10 cent 5 cent a 2 cent and 1 cent, 2 Page One 5 dollar coin in silver, 3 Page One 2 dollar bank note, 4 Page One 5 dollar bank note, 5 Page One 10 dollar bank note.
