#M770 U.S. Government 1892 Pattern Artillery Curb Bit, First Pattern. The bit types shown in Fig, 7, Page 56 of BRIDLE BITS OF THE AMERICAN MILITARY, 1776-1945, by McPheeters & Dorsey. This bridle bit measures exactly 5 ¾ inches in length and 5 ¾ inches across the bit is not marked. Issued to the artillery in 1902 only 500 were issued.
