Description
#4927 Winchester 1873 OBFMCB 44WCF, 239XXX(1887) manufacture, standard sporting rifle. About an average exterior with scattered light to moderate pitting and a deep brown patina overall. The wood is also about average with no serious damage other than a slash on the forearm (see photo) and the comb of the butt having been slimmed down somewhat. Decent barrel address and common buckhorn sight (which is missing the little serrated elevation piece), Rocky Mountain style blade front sight. Nice smooth action, but an utterly terrible bore, barely can see any rifling due to rust, dirt, pitting, dead spiders and cockroaches. Definitely a prime candidate for a reline (now about $200 for a quality job) as it is extremely doubtful that this could ever be shot with this current bore condition, but at least then it would have a minty bore and should make a good shooter.
