#SE234 Manhattan Firearms Company 36 Caliber

Description

#SE234 Manhattan Firearms Company this is a 36 caliber percussion Navy type, five shot revolver with a 6 ½” octagon barrel and non-rebated cylinder. The serial number would indicate that this is a series 3 made in 1861. This model was made from 1859 to 1868 in Newark, New Jersey, with a production of around 78,000 units. The back strap and the trigger guard are made of brass and retains none of the original silver plating. The gun retains some of its blue finish. The rolled engraving on the cylinder is still slightly evident. Barrel and frame stampings are clear. The grips are walnut with most of the original varnish. This is an all matching serial numbered gun. The gun bears a close resemblance to the Colt 1851 Navy model and also the Colt 1849 pocket. The difference are the 10 cylinder stops allowing the user to load all cylinders and leave the hammer safety between the primers. Serial 185XX
