#4610 Winchester 1866 Musket, 42XXX range, 44RF

Description

#4610 Winchester 1866 Musket, 42XXX range, 44RF with typical dirty black-powder bore that will likely clean to about a “6” on a scale of 10, nice smooth action. It does, however, have a chipped extractor and would need a new one if it were to be shot (a highly unlikely scenario considering the high cost and scarcity of 44RF ammunition!) This musket looks to have had good care all of its long life (except for not being cleaned vigorously enough) and has no serious deficits. The metal is about fine with no pitting of mention, the brass is a lovely mellow uncleaned brass, the sling swivels, lever latch, and sights are correct and appear to be the originals to this gun and the wood shows very little use and has no cracks, chips, slivers, or wear of any consequence. And while these muskets are not as “glamorous” as either the rifles or carbines in the 1866 model, they are by FAR the most scarce configuration and many were bought by people who wanted the longer barrel for its accuracy and yet were not concerned about the overall length as would be the case in a saddle gun. This is a FAR above average specimen. There are a lot of pictures of this old Yellowboy, so if they all do not load up, be sure to e-mail me and I’ll forward them along to you. VG++ $4650
