Description
#4898 Colt Model 1862-Police, 4-1/2”x36cal percussion, 34XXX range (1865), IRON strapped and British proofed. This is a nice little Police and has a good ammount of BRIGHT blue still remaining on the straps and cylinder, the barrel faded to a thin blue-grey patina and the frame casecolors faded to an even lighter grey. Fine markings and crisp mechanics with a fine bore. Fine grips with much varnish remaining, but they do have small toe chips as can be seen in the photos (hopefully). Tough to find these iron-strapped versions; they were made for the British trade and therefore in far less quantities than those made for the domestic trade where most going as personal sidearms for the Civil War. For the advanced collector who is specializing in the smaller framed Colt percussions, this iron strapped variation is a difficult version to find. Fine+ $2150
