Description

#SE249 Allen & Thurber Double Action Bar Hammer Pistol this is a 36 caliber percussion, single shot boot or muff type pistol with a 3” half octagon half round screw off barrel. It was originally manufactured from 1830s until the Civil War with several thousand manufactured. Batch numbering on the barrel is 143 with Patented 1837 and cast steel stamped on the barrel. The top mounted bar hammer is marked Allen’s patent, and the frame has a simple scroll engraving. The gun appears to be the last type manufactured and has the 1845 patent type action. The gun was originally blue and has acquired a natural patina. The grips are walnut and in fine condition. The gun is complete and works in all respects and would be graded in fine plus condition.
