Description 1190P Colt 1851 Navy, 36 cal., 7 1/2 inch barrel, manuf. 1852 SN 15XXX. These early 51 Navies saw both the Gold Rush era of the 1850s and the Civil War of the 1860s. This a smooth metal Navy with no pitting and sharp barrel edges. All the numbers match including rammer and wedge. The early Navies also had all 5 digits stamped on the cylinder and rammer, later guns were dropped to 4 digits. They also have the rammer henge screw coming in from the right side, later Navies are all on the left side. The back strap and trigger guard have 20% silver remaining. The rammer, hammer and frame have light case color. The barrel address, patent stamp and serial numbers are all crisp and readable. The cylinder has 60% scene with safety pins that are still there but flattened. The action is tight and correct and the bore has very strong rifling, only light roughness, a shiny 8+. This Navy is very tight all over with no play or looseness and a tight wedge and good screws. The original grips have no cracks or chips, fit well and do appear to have been sanded at some time and oiled.
The time period holster in the pictures is NOT part of the sales price.
Overall condition very good plus.
