Description

#3861 Starr 1863 Single Action revolver, 8”x44CF, with decent bore and fine tight action, having been converted in the post-Civil War years and most likely sold on the civilian market. The S/A model Starr was far less troublesome than its earler 1858 D/A predecessor …and while they were made in larger quantities, they are found in far LESS quantities today and rarely in the cartridge conversion configuration . Basically smooth grayish metal with some minor scattered pitting here and there; the grips are about Fine and have very dim cartouche outlines and some initials on the butt bottom. As with most all conversions other than Colts, this one does not have matching numbers, but this seems to be the norm with the non-Colt conversions. It should be mentioned that the 44CF can be easily made using 44S&W Mag or Special cartridges. A very decent, impressive post Civil War – Western handgun. There are lots of pictures of this neat old Starr, so if they all do not load up, be sure to e-mail me and I’ll forward them along to you. About VG. $1995
