Description
#4250 Colt S/A 7-1/2"x45COLT, 107XXX range (1884) antique. Reasonable bore (6-7 on a scale of 10) with minor light rust and pitting, good action although seems to be missing the 3rd click on the hammer, which is the correct style hammer, incidentally. The metal is a thin mottled greyish-brown with some minor dings on the cylinder, probably from some cowboy trying to bang it around to the next chamber when it was gummed up with black powder residue as they were prone to doing. Markings are good; the one piece walnut grips are good ...but either shrunk, worn, or have been sanded slightly undersized at some point in time. Getting ever harder to find these wood-gripped S/As at under the 3K range, and while this is not an high-end, advanced collectors weapon, it is a Single Action, the Blue Chip of antique gun collecting, and is WELL worth the money.
