#4852 Winchester 1873 OBFMCB, 44WCF, 90XXX(1882) and being a VERY early Third Variation. It does still retain the older Second Variation short base semi-buckhorn rear sight, unmarked caliber barrel and elevator, but does have the concealed trigger pin of the Third Model. The exterior retains liberal strong blue on the rear portions of the frame (40%+), and liberal good traces on the barrel and magazine with the rest going to a smooth greyish-brown. The wood has the usual bumps and dings of age, some old varnish remnants, but is solid and has no slivers or repairs other than some very minor filler in a couple of small spots; the dustcover is the original and has some original finish as well. Mechanically it is in very good condition and has a very good bore with moderate lead build-up and average wear (about a 6-7 on a scale of 10). This is one of the earliest Third Variations that I have ever seen; most are in the 100K range and above, and this rifle has features of both models; a true transitional piece. About VG++/Fine $2550
