#4936 Winchester 1873 OBFMCB 38WCF, 151XXX(1884) and having a strongly rifled bore with no major deficits at all, just the usual darkening in the grooves (most of which will polish out). Smooth action, standard trigger and sights. The exterior looks like this is an old “barn gun” in that it has a smooth heavy very deep dark brown patina overall, and the wood looks uncleaned and untouched. Personally, I like these left as they are …..but if someone else would rather have a thinner smooth greyish-brown patina, then this could easily be done. The wood is about G/VG except that the forearm has a full length thin crack on the belly that does not seem to compromise the strength or use, and the buttstock has deep bruise dents to both sides of the wrist. Again if desired, both of these problems could be made much better by some steaming and glue to the forearm crack ….but that I will leave to some new owner.
