Description 391R Winchester Model 1894 rifle, 1/2 round barrel, take-down, full magazine, Swiss butt plate, tang rear sight, cal. 30 WCF, SN 230XXX, Cody letter. The special sights, tang sight and Swiss butt do not show on the letter, all the other special order features do. Take-down 1/2 round full magazine Winchester are very scarce, usually they are button or 1/2 magazines. This one has been used but well cared for in the last 106 years. The receiver has 80% blue worn on the edges, the barrel and magazine have 90% blue worn on the high spots, the fore-end cap has 50% blue. The lever has toned case color and the hammer has 80% case. The action is tight and the bore is a shiny 9 with deep rifling. The front and rear barrel sights are early Redfield, the rear barrel site is an adjustable buckhorn. The rear tang is an early fine checkered site with no exposed name and appears to have always been on the gun. The wood to metal fit is excellent including the brass Swiss butt plate. The wood has only minor dings and does not appear to have been sanded or ever removed. The screws are all in fine condition and the take-down assembly is tight.
Overall condition fine.
